Academic Plus Volunteer becomes a member of WYSE Travel Confederation

Academic Plus Volunteer from New Zealand facilitates combination of high-school and volunteering programmes in New Zealand and abroad for 16-18 year olds. The students experience high school in New Zealand while making a difference, volunteering on local sporting, environmental or social projects.

What’s Involved?
• An academic course of any length at one of our participating high schools, including exciting subjects and extracurricular activities.
• Up to 5 hours per week, or 50 hours per term of volunteering on chosen sporting, social or environmental project.
• Living with a homestay from within the school community. City, beach, farm and semi-rural home-stay options available.
• Optional travel within New Zealand and Australia on international student tours.

Suzette Eastmond, the director, has been working independently in the international student school sector since 2007 in her own international education consultancy, after a long career in high schools in NZ. She has developed a number of different programmes across schools in NZ.

Academic Plus Volunteer is one of her latest projects across 10 schools in NZ and one in Chile. They are currently looking for more partner schools in Latin America, the Pacific and Asia.
