The World Youth Student and Educational (WYSE) Travel Confederation has announced that its 2016 World Youth and Student Travel Conference (WYSTC) will be held in Serbia’s capital, Belgrade, next September.
The annual gathering of the youth, student and educational travel industry is expected to attract over 600 delegates representing over 450 organisations from 120 countries across the globe.
A vibrant youth festival scene, wide range of adventure and outdoor activities, plus affordability make Belgrade and wider Serbia popular choices with youth, student and educational travellers.
With a population of 1.23 million – and over 1.65 million people living in its metropolitan area – Belgrade is the largest city in Serbia and one of the largest cities in Southeast Europe.
Conveniently situated at the crossroads between Central and Southeast Europe, Serbia (officially the Republic of Serbia) covers the central Balkans and has a total population of approximately 7.2 million. The country’s neighbours include Hungary, Croatia and Montenegro.
Through its modern international airport, Belgrade is easily accessible from Europe and the Middle East, with good connections available for those travelling from further afield.
Speaking at this year’s WYSTC event, which is currently taking place in Cape Town, David Chapman, Director General of WYSE Travel Confederation said: “We are delighted to announce that the host city for WYSTC 2016 is Belgrade in Serbia.
“The city’s location and accessibility, combined with its growing popularity with youth and student travellers, make it an ideal location for WYSTC 2016.
“We look forward to working with our partners in Serbia to bring you a comprehensive programme of educational sessions, business appointments and networking events, along with a taste of what Belgrade and Serbia as a whole have to offer.”
Miodrag Popovic, Acting General Manager of the Tourist Organization of Belgrade, added: “We are ready to welcome you to our city in 2016.”
“We are convinced that WYSTC 2016 in Belgrade will be a great opportunity to build new international networks, exchange ideas and experience. You will also be able to explore our city, its history, cultural monuments, museums, theatres and many parks. City services and our truly hospitable citizens will do their best to make your stay in our city unforgettable.”
