KILROY acquires part of Finnish Frank

KILROY acquires 20% of a company which develops benefits for Finnish students.

kilroy_corporateKILROY Finland Oy Ab has just completed its acquisition of 20% of Finnish Frank which is a new company established by the national student unions to develop benefits for the Finnish students.

Frank has already had a positive kick-off which includes a strategic co-operation with one of Finland’s biggest mobile companies Elisa. The Elisa agreement further involves cooperation with MasterCard which means that students now will be able to use NFC technology for payment and other services on campus.

The student unions represent more than 350.000 students and it is therefore natural for KILROY to become involved in the future development of Frank.

Students today have an international perspective and thrive as global citizens and KILROY wishes to play an important part in supporting the needs of students in this relation.

KILROY, among other things, holds the license to issue the ISIC card (International Student Identity Card) in Finland. ISIC will have a central role in this new agreement which means that all Finnish students in the future will be given the opportunity to get an ISIC card. The ISIC card is an internationally recognized student ID which offers an international network of benefits and discounts for students.

Frank is a newly established company with the purpose of developing benefits for students in Finland. Information about Frank can be found on www.myfrank.fi. The main shareholders of the company are the National Union of Vocational Students in Finland (SAKKI), The Union of Students in Finnish Universities of Applied Sciences (SAMOK), Union of Finnish Upper Secondary School Students (SLL) and National Union of University Students in Finland (SYL).

The ISIC Association is the non-profit organisation behind the International Student Identity Card (ISIC). The ISIC card is the only internationally accepted proof of bona fide student status and has been endorsed by UNESCO since 1968. The ISIC card is distributed to 5 million students in more than 125 countries worldwide. See www.isic.org.
