Biography
Ronaldo Da Silva has more than 30 years’ experience in travel, tourism and hotel management. In his native Brazil, he worked for two 5 star properties in Rio de Janeiro and went on to work as a manager for two major tour operators in Rome, Italy, where he was responsible for the European division, handling accommodation and tours for inbound groups of adults and students from Asia, North and South America. Thereafter, he acquired a half share in a Rome-based travel agency and tour operation where he worked as Director of Sales, a role which included overseas travel to develop the inbound and outbound business.
After selling his share of the business in 1991, Ronaldo moved to London where he worked as Incoming Manager for one of Italy’s leading student travel companies, where he was responsible for the acquisition of student accommodation on a large scale on behalf of the company. This led to his interest in the student travel industry and culminated in his opening his own company, Britannia Student Services, which specialises in accommodation and language travel. He is well known within the student travel and EFL industries and was appointed to the board of BETA (British Educational Travel Association) from 2010 until his resignation in 2016.
Ronaldo speaks 4 languages and his international contacts and communication skills have helped him build business from around the world.
Statement of Intent
I am interested in joining the advisory panel as I believe my breadth of experience in student and youth accommodation and travel will enable me to make a positive contribution to the future activities of WYSE. I have worked with many types of accommodation including halls of residence, homestays, hostels, hotels, apartment and house shares and believe this wide knowledge will add a useful perspective to future board initiatives and discussion.
